The work that I create is in symbiosis with my emotions. It originates and is inspired by moments in life, by recurrence of actions, spirituality, by questions on society’s buzzing tempo in an already short and fast living life, and how to resist. Searching for freedom or finding it, my work concerns those fragments in time, that emanate a powerful energy, love. I reflect into the past in order to learn from it. I see intergenerational trauma but also radical joy that subsist in different communities and my own descendance. Through an intuitive observation of the communities I interact with and the world views that surround us, I hope to build meaningful relations.


Le travail que je crée est en symbiose avec mes émotions. Il naît et s'inspire de moments de vie, de récurrence d'actions, de spiritualité, de questionnements sur le tempo bourdonnant de la société dans une vie déjà courte et rapide, et comment résister. Cherchant la liberté ou l'ayant trouvée, mon travail se rapporte à ces fragments dans le temps, qui émanent d'une énergie puissante, l'amour. Je plonge dans le passé afin d'en tirer des connaissances. Je vois le traumatisme intergénérationnel, mais, aussi la joie radicale qui subsiste dans différentes communautés et dans ma propre descendance. Par le biais d'une observation intuitive des communautés avec lesquelles j'interagis et des visions du monde qui nous entourent, j'espère construire des relations significatives.

Cassi Camille (b.1994, she/her) is woman of color, working and residing in “Montreal” (Tio’tia:ke), currently in her third year in Concordia. Mainly a ceramicist, her practice also involves drawing, digital art, fibers and mixed media work combining textiles and handmade clay sculpture. She is of Haitian descent, and much of her practice is rooted in the empowering of black communities. Cassi’s process questions social norms and is inspired by everyday experiences.

She has recently organized, with five fellow artists, an exhibition at Art Mûr Gallery revolving around the research and use of local materials. Her artworks have been exhibited in various galleries, some through different student organisations. She has been selected to be part of VAV Gallery’s in-person residency/exhibit for Black History month in 2021. Camille has gained a Jury award in 2021 for La Débauche, which was exhibited by the CCSA (Concordia Ceramics Student Association) at Galerie 1040.
